Amputee Program

Hackensack Meridian Health’s Amputee Program provides comprehensive care, from pre-surgical coordination and planning through healing and rehabilitation.

Our Amputee Program, which is led by Michael Dambeck, D.O. and offered at Hackensack Meridian Health Subacute Rehab at Wall, uses an integrated approach that focuses on improving patient comfort and outcomes across the continuum of care.

If you or a loved one is facing amputation of a limb or extremity, our Amputee Program will connect you with a consistent, compassionate team of medical and therapeutic specialists who will provide support during each stage of care. Whenever possible, our team will meet to assess your lifestyle and activities before surgery and develop a personalized care plan that meets your treatment and rehabilitation needs.

Your prosthetic selection team — which will include a physiatrist, a prosthetist and physical and occupational therapists who are trained in amputee care — will recommend the best available prosthetic and monitor prosthetic fabrication. We offer pre-prosthetic and prosthetic physical and occupational therapy, as well as inpatient and outpatient prosthetic training.

Our personalized, proactive approach to amputee care means that our patients typically spend less time in our subacute rehab facilities, return home sooner and are more active. Our program also helps patients and families feel empowered, supported and in control of their care, which can have a positive impact on patient attitudes and outcomes.
