Hackensack Meridian Health is among a select group of New Jersey hospitals approved by the State Health Commissioner to perform both primary and elective angioplasty (C-Port Study). Primary angioplasty is regarded as the most effective intervention for heart attacks.“Time is muscle,” so delays in treating a heart attack increase the likelihood and amount of cardiac muscle damage. The Door to Balloon time national benchmark is 90 minutes but at Raritan Bay Medical Center our Door to Balloon times average is only 65.5 minutes.

Transcatheter Aortic Valve Replacement
TAVR is a new option for some patients with aortic stenosis. It is a minimally invasive procedure that allows us to repair a valve without removing it. If you have aortic stenosis and your doctor feels that traditional open-heart surgery is too big a risk, TAVR may be an option. TAVR is sometimes recommended for people who are older, have a weaker heart, had previous heart surgery or radiation to the chest, history of stroke, or have chronic conditions such as diabetes, kidney disease, or chronic obstructive lung disease.

Hackensack Meridian Health offers the WATCHMAN™ Left Atrial Appendage Closure (LAAC) Device, a life changing stroke risk treatment option. The WATCHMAN™ LAAC Device is a first-of-its-kind, proven alternative to long-term warfarin therapy for stroke risk reduction in patients with non-valvular atrial fibrillation. The device is implanted in the left atrial appendage of your heart to permanently close off this small pouch and keep harmful blood clots from entering your bloodstream. By closing off the left atrial appendage, the source of more than 90% of stroke-causing blood clots that come from the heart in people with non-valvular AF5, the risk of stroke may be reduced and, over time, you may be able to stop taking warfarin.
